Ragi - non vegan protein source , so that you can benefit it as a great protein source, yet it contains a lot of minerals in it - found it as round red millet in the market.
While talking about its benefit side, it contains a great source of fiber for those of you want to lose weight, it is named as Beta gluten a type of fiber that helps to reduce weight.

How to make it as Ragi powder ?

- First off, wash the Ragi grains, till the dust particles gets away from it.
- Dry the water content by keeping it under the direct sunlight or warm it up using a heater (source of your own choice ) , the only aim is to dry it till the water contents gets away from it.
- Before I crush it into a powdered form, using a mixer jar, I have roasted it in a hot tava.
- Crush the roasted Ragi into its powdered form , using a mixer jar.
- Keep it inside a closed bottle.

Ragi Mudde make it into a ball shaped form by boiling the powder using the required amount of water, until it gets into its thickened form.

Ragi roti - mix the powder with wheat flour in the proportion you want. For half cup of wheat, you can take one- fourth part of ragi. make a soft dough and bake some roties from it.
How to make it as a drink ?
It is a nourishing traditional beverage, an easy recipe and as a most common food among the Indian's.
Other name of this drink is Ragi Java well known as Ragi in Kannada, Ragulu in telugu, Kezhvaragu or Keppai in Tamil, Mandika in Hindi
Steps to make Ragi Java ↓
Best method I have found in making java is by taking the milk juice from the red ragi balls, using a mixer jar. Before you crushed the balls to its broth form, wash it off after cleaning the ragi balls using water.
Take a hot pan and boil the juice till it turns to the pulp form.
- Mix the Ragi flour with water.
- Take a hot pan or lid to cook it. Make sure that there are no lumps available in the mixture.
- Cook it under the medium flame.
- Keep stirring and cook until the mixture turns thick and glossy.
- Add the required amount of milk you want.
- Use jaggery as the sweetener or a pinch of salt based on your taste buds.
- Sprinkle almond powder or any dry fruits, but it is most preferably the fruit named dates, it might be considering it as a fruit of new beginnings, you may add it on the top of any porridges as you prefer it!

- Extract the juice from ragi balls and prepare the ragi porridge from it, it is an easy way to prepare porridge especially for kids.
- Using a normal siever, collect the big lumps from the ragi powder , so that you will be able to prepare porridge without having much lumps on it.
